While I’m glad Gary could access the support he needed, not being informed about his actions led to delays and unnecessary stress on both sides. By working together and keeping me informed, we could have avoided the confusion, ensured continuous care, and prevented his stress over treatment interruption.

Gary received a medical bill for $31,000 in another situation, with $18,000 as his responsibility. Naturally, this caused immediate panic for Gary, and understandably, who can quickly pay such a large amount out of pocket? Thankfully, Gary contacted me before attempting to pay the bill. After reviewing the situation, Through my years of advocacy work, I’ve learned that carefully reviewing the bill and to quote: “Never Pay the First Bill” is essential.I discovered his supplemental insurance information was missing from the provider’s records. Once this was corrected, the bill was reduced to zero, with no balance due. Imagine the panic and financial consequences if Gary hadn’t reached out and taken steps to clarify the charges!
